Members of the Fluid Power industry given opportunity to discuss marketplace at the NEC in Birmingham
A new B2B marketplace for the Fluid Power industry was officially launched last week at the Fluid Power & System Expo at the NEC in Birmingham, UK.
FluidPowerNet is a new marketplace designed to help fluid power companies trade and do better business, build relationships and be part of a large resource for those in the industry.
The idea behind FPN stems from the success of ‘BearingNet’, the sister company set up by Managing Director Peter Annis and Technical Director Gary Jenkins in 1996. BearingNet has grown from a few hundred companies using the network, to over 1850 companies in April 2018 with over 7000 individuals in the industry talking to and trading with each other.
This level of interaction and business opportunities has made doing business within the bearing and power transmission industries much more dynamic and engaging. The same business model has been applied to FPN – helping distributors locate parts that they either do not have in stock or are waiting on a long lead time from the manufacturer. It is also great for finding bespoke parts that need producing and sharing ideas and suggestions in the forum.
The immediate priority for the FPN team is showing the fluid power industry how the marketplace can benefit them:
“The first stages of FluidPowerNet are to get the marketplace going and actually show these companies how using FPN can help them trade better and that they can make money from using it. We’re excited to help fluid power distributors trade in a more sophisticated way.
The Fluid Power Expo in Birmingham was a great experience for us. Feedback from people we spoke to was really positive and everyone was intrigued by the concept of FPN and how it can help their business. So far, we’re really happy with the start!”, said Head of Business Development for FluidPowerNet, Nicola Beer.
BearingNet brings together many bearing & power transmission companies from all over the world. These companies have seen a significant return on investment using BearingNet as a B2B distributor marketplace. BearingNet holds over 11 million lines of inventory and performs 10,000 searches every day! There have also been opportunities for networking at the well-received User Meetings – where delegates can get together for 3 days of face-to-face networking and getting to know people within the industry, from Poland to India. We now plan to bring the same business model to the fluid power industry and this is where our journey begins.
Nicola Beer added:
“The BearingNet model has been a huge success in the 22 years since its birth and the Fluid Power industry is the perfect industry for this kind of marketplace service. We look forward to welcoming new fluid power businesses to trade all kinds of fluid power components, from hydraulic pumps, pneumatic couplings & anything bespoke. Not only that, we’re excited to create a community, share industry stories and get to know the people behind all the hard work.”
